A car reported stolen out of Marple Township was spotted in the northbound lane of Sharon Avenue in Sharon Hill around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, police wrote in a release.

Officers blocked the car at the intersection with Chester Pike forcing the driver to stop, the department said. While police gave "verbal commands" to the driver, the passenger was allegedly seen reaching under his seat "in an attempt to conceal something."

Both people were ordered out of the car and arrested without incident, Darby police said. Under the passenger seat, authorities claimed they found a black, semi-automatic Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, also reportedly stolen from Marple Township.

The suspects, ages 16 and 17, were processed at the Darby Township Police Headquarters and given GPS monitors before being turned back over to their parents ahead of their Juvenile Court hearing, the department said.
